Earlier this week TIME Magazine published a “All-TIME 100 Greatest Toys” article featuring the100 most influential toys from 1923 to the present. Among the list are many great toy lines and quite a few popular ones from the 80’s that we all collected. G.I. Joe is on the list too. But it is G.I. Joe from the 1960’s! That is right, the original 12-inch G.I. Joe was chosen and the ARAH Joe we all love was overlooked. Now I understand they might not have wanted the same brand on the list twice, but somehow I feel that the 80’s G.I. Joe was more of an influence and cultural phenomenon than the 1960’s version. Am I wrong here? Is it because of my biased thinking growing up on the 80’s ARAH Joes? Either way, still cool to see the brand being recognized. So what do you think?
