We’ve just received the latest answers to the questions we submitted for the last round of G.I. Joe Q&A‘s this year with the Hasbro G.I. Joe team. We sent in three (3) questions asked by you guys to see what Hasbro’s G.I. Joe design team had to say. We received answers to two of the three questions we sent in, and they are posted below. Like always, we’ll update our Hasbro G.I. Joe Q&A directory as the sites partaking in the Q↦A post their responses too. In the meantime, let’s hear your thoughts on the responses.
Enjoy.
Here are the G.I. Joe Round 6 Q&A answers we received.
Q1 — Despite being “alerted” at JoeCon, there still appears to be a distribution problem at retail with the availability of new G.I. Joe products (I recently visited a Toys R Us in Massachusetts that didn’t carry Joe products at all.), and with the frustration of Hasbro Toy Shop constantly being sold out of the newest figures. Is there something being done to correct this with the next waves of 30th figures, and/or the upcoming G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation movie merchandise?
A1 – No answer.
Q2 — With the upcoming G.I. Joe 2 movie line, was there anything that was considered for the first movie line that didn’t get produced that has now been given the green light? Especially considering the fan reaction from “Treasures from the Hasbro Archives” panel at the 2011 JoeCon (i.e. Howler, Cobra Missile Transport & Cobra H.I.S.S. Transport vehicles).
A2 — G.I. Joe: Retailiation has a great line up of new characters and vehicles which will appear in our movie line in 2012. We can’t wait to bring these new characters and vehicles to toy form next year in what is sure to be another exciting time for the G.I. Joe brand.
Q3 — I imagine there will be a massive Hasbro diorama at JoeCon again in 2012, how far in advance did you plan for the diorama in previous years? Since it has to be portable and current; what considerations go into this process and how do things change and develop from stage one to the final stage?
A3 — We are just kicking off our plans for the 2012 G.I. Joe Convention now. If we do feature a new diorama, the process typically takes about 3 months. This is a really fun part of the job and allows the whole team to work together and get more creative than usual. It begins with a strategic objective, involves a lot of brainstorming, is produced through a talented vendor and then posed out by our awesome sculptors and designers. Sometimes they even give us marketers a chance to pose out the figures even if they have to fix them after!
