We reported the other day the pricing and release date for the G.I. Joe: The Movie DVD and Blu-ray for you. Now, thanks to Shout! Factory we have some hi-res images of the box cover art for each. Again, the G.I. Joe: The Movie DVD will retail for $16.97 (pre-order for $11.99 on Amazon) and the Blu-ray version will retail for $22.97 (pre-order for $15.99 on Amazon). Both will be available on July 27th, 2010. Check back soon as we will be reporting on the “special features” available for G.I. Joe: The Movie DVD and Blu-ray.

Pricing & Release Date Info for “G.I. Joe: The Movie” DVD & Blu-ray!

Recently we reported that Shout! Factory was working on the G.I. Joe: The Movie DVD and Blu-ray, and that things were coming along great and expect to see it released later this year. Well now we have a release date and pricing for both thanks to listings for each on Amazon.com. The G.I. Joe: The Movie DVD will retail for $16.97 (pre-order for $11.99 on Amazon) and the Blu-ray version will retail for $22.97 (pre-order for $15.99 on Amazon). Both are to be released on July 27th, 2010. So for those looking to fill that empty slot in the Shout! Factory’s G.I. Joe Complete Collectors Set, or for those that have been waiting to get this on DVD (or Blu-ray), it is almost here!

Shout! Factory Issues Press Release for G.I. Joe: Season 2.0 DVD Set

Shout! Factory has sent us a press release in regards to their upcoming release of the G.I. Joe: Season 2.0 DVD set. Available next month, April 27th, 2010, the set will feature all 30 episodes of Sunbow’s second season of G.I. Joe: A Read American Hero cartoon. This set will retail for $29.99 when it is released next month. Currently it is available for pre-order on Amazon.com for $27.49. You can place your order today and they’ll ship it to you soon as it is available.

Shout! Factory’s Brian Ward Says, “GI JOE: THE MOVIE on Blu-ray”

Thanks to Brian Ward of Shout! Factory, we now know that they will be releasing the animated G.I. Joe: The Movie on Blu-ray along with DVD. He mentions on his Twitter feed this week that things were coming along nicely and the film print is in “excellent condition”.

Shout! Factory G.I. Joe Season 1.3 Released Today!

Shout! Factory’s third installment of the G.I. Joe Sunbow series is released today. The G.I. Joe Season 1.3 DVD set is available and contains the remaining 22 episodes of G.I. Joe Season 1. This set retails for $24.99 but you may find it cheaper, like on on Amazon.com for $21.99 or at Best Buy.

Hasbro & Discovery Communications Officially Announce — “The Hub”

Hasbro and Discovery Communications have issued a press release following their announcement at the Television Critics Association 2010 Winter Press Tour, they have “officially” announced the name (& logo) of their joint venture childrens’ network called, The Hub. The Hub will be home to many new shows of children’s programming, including a new G.I. Joe and Transformers cartoons.

Hub may be a kids’ network, but if you raced home from school to watch G.I. Joe and Transformers, you know you still watch them now that you’re a so-called grown-up. “I think you’ll like what we’re doing, because creatively what we’re trying to do is embrace what was done previously—the mythology and the legacy—but also take it forward with some new characters and then sort of digging deep a little bit into the existing characters and revealing more about them,” Loesch continued. “I think you’ll be very happy. Look, one of the things I worry about most are those die-hard fans that write me and say, ‘Don’t ruin it.’ So we’re not going to ruin it. It’s going to be really good.”

G.I. Joe Season 2.0 DVD Set Coming April 2010 from Shout! Factory

G.I. Joe A Real American Hero: Season 2.0 from Shout! Factory is coming to DVD on April 27, 2010. This 4-disc set will contain all 30 episodes of the G.I. Joe Season 2 cartoon. That’s 11 hours of G.I. Joe Season 2 in one set! It will retail for $29.93 and is available for pre-order on Amazon.com for $20.99 right now. No other information is available at this time since it has not been officialy announced by Shout! Factory.
