As we just found out yesterday, Hasbro has officially cancelled the Rise of Cobra Wave 3 Alpha Vehicles, and now eBay seller ws_toys / Black Sheep Toy Store has some auctions for one of the vehicle drivers from that wave. Being one of the more sought after figures, the Volcano-Viper was to come with the Lava Pod, a Mole Pod repaint, is available. It is available in single auctions for $6.99 and $5.00 shipping or the better value of a Lot of 5 at $29.99 and free shipping. So if you were wanting this figure, here your chance to get it still!

Well hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I just got an email from BigBadToyStore, they are saying Hasbro has officially cancelled the Rise of Cobra Wave 3 Alpha Class vehicles. Wave 3 consisted of the Lava Pod w/Volcano-Viper, Tiger Claw ATV w/Leatherneck, Polar Sharc w/Icestorm and Desert Rockslide ATAV w/Dusty.
Hi – Hasbro has just informed us that this item has been cancelled, and as a result they will not be able to fill our orders. We apologize for the inconvenience. We have cancelled all preorders and removed the item from our site.
Thanks

So whatever boxed production samples made their way out of the factory in China onto eBay or hit retail in the Philippines is it, at least for now. Hasbro may or may not still try to get some of these into the Pursuit of Cobra line considering some of the tooling they spent money on. Only time will tell.

The 82nd Annual Academy Awards are tonight and no, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra will not be taking home any Oscars. On the other hand, the 30th Annual Golden Rasberry (Razzie) Award “Winners” were announced and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra did manage to snag one. For “Worst Supporting Actress of 2009″, they picked Sienna Miller. Now, I admit Rise of Cobra was not perfect and there was stuff I was not totally excited about, but Sienna Miller was not that bad in my opinion and far from the worst actor or actress in the movie. Considering the others nominated, Sienna Miller should not have received this “award”.

Well yesterday was the first Friday of the month and that means another webisode of Hasbro’s Operation H.I.S.S. web series. So head on over to Hasbro’s site to watch another minute and 45 seconds of next installment of Operation H.I.S.S.. Part 2 features Duke and Heavy Duty in a jungle looking for Cobra and what do they find? A Terror Drome and Vipers! Hasbro appears to have posted the wrong video online on Friday. They have since corrected that and have posted the “Arctic” mission instead of the “Jungle” one originally posted. In the “Arctic” mission we see the team investigating a Cobra base/factory in the Arctic and inside they find Destro and Baroness waiting for them. Follow the link previously posted to watch this episode.
Done as a “bridge” between The Rise of Cobra and the next line of G.I. Joe, The Pursuit of Cobra, Hasbro has created a low budget web series called Operation H.I.S.S.; where the Joes are chasing Cobra around the world trying to stop them from building a new weapon, the H.I.S.S. Tank! So go check out the series on Hasbro’s “MonkeyBar TV” and let us know what you think.

Over at the MTV Movies Blog, they have posted an interview with Zombieland writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Reese and Wernick will be taking over the writing duties on G.I. Joe 2 which is tentatively scheduled for a 2012 release. During the interview they say how they are going to bring the sequel closer to its “roots” while still maintaining a connection to the first movie. So no reboot here. They also say they will be going to visit Hasbro at their headquarters in Pawtucket, Rhode Island soon to talk G.I. Joe and get some ideas. You can watch the interview below. (Thanks to Justin at GeneralsJoes for the heads up!)

Terror Drome reader, Scott Beatty, writer and editor on Hasbro’s webisode series, G.I. Joe: Operation H.I.S.S.; has sent us a message today, to let us know that it has started. Operation H.I.S.S. Webisode #1, is now live on Hasbro’s site and ready to watch. This series is based in The Rise of Cobra “movie verse” and takes place after the movie. It also appears to follow The Pursuit of Cobra theme of chasing Cobra around the world in different environments. You can find the episodes here, on Hasbro’s site. New episodes will be available on the first Friday of each month.
