"Rip Attack" Jet Storm Cycle & Tiger Snake Vehicles

TaoBao seller macca428 has posted an auction for the Pursuit of Cobra "Rip Attack" vehicles. They are the Jet Storm Cycle with Snake Eyes (RoC V1 Snake Eyes) and the Tiger Snake with Street-Viper (what looks like an Elite-Viper repaint?). It still remains to be seen if these vehicles will make it to the shelves with the recent rumblings of scaling back of the Pursuit of Cobra line.

Seriously though, we know that this will make it to store shelves no doubt. But the other waves of good stuff? We will never see that. Isnt it a bit early to roll out gimmick vehicles/toys for the line? I mean the line isnt doing so hot and theres plenty of good ideas still to be made.

Rip Pull Vehicles, SERIOUSLY. Its almost 2010 and those stupid rip cord vehicles were out of date back when they realeased the other crappy ninja cycles for the original joe line. Huge Pass on those.

I kinda like the look of the Cobra one. It has this neat souped-up look that reminds me of the sort of vehicle you see in "futuristic" movies that are trying to be hip and edgy... Mad Max, Running Man, that sort of thing. And since that's not far off from what ROC was (not to mention Joe in general...), I'm rather liking it.

Plus, the shape reminds me of the Rat, which was one of my favorite Cobra vehicles back in the day.

After some thought, Ive realized that these just arent targeted to our demographic. As a kid I would have loved these, just like we loved the crappy little windup accesory packs back in the day.

Too bad most kids wont touch this line with a 10 foot poll. These are just going to be another thing that clogs the shelf space and prevents anything new from hitting IMO.

Seeing the Christmas crowed come in now, i have noticed that the only thing the kids know AND run too every time are Bakugan, and Star Wars.

With the TF stuff, the only thing that has been selling is Devastator for some reason.

When your in the Joe aisle, you can literally hear crickets. That stuff goes untouched, even the stuff thats on sale. I stocked the new Joe 5 packs, and the new Star Wars Mcqueery 5 packs at the same time. We havent sold a single Joe pack, but the SW ones are sold out despite the fact they are double the price.

Hasbro really needs something to push these lines, or they are going to be lost in time. Kids dont know anything about these lines. If they didnt have to walk past them to get to the SW section, i dont think they would ever see them.

I still see some potential for young kids to like these, But as from what HC said and I have seen this too because I recently got a job at TRU, kids just aren't interested in joes its one thing having the movie be PG-13 its another that kids now-a-days how absolutely no clue as to what GI Joes are. there is no more saturday morning cartoons, no more cool toy commercials.

Hasbro has themselves to blame mostly because there is the star wars clone wars movie and series. I'm not even going into detail about Bakugan because its on every morning on cartoon network, so its apparent as to what is more popular because they have more than just a toyline to get kids interest.

When i was a kid i loved those things Ben. I had a ton of "rip attack" stuff ranging from TMNT, Ghostbuters, to G.I. Joe. They were and still are a lot of fun. In fact i just picked up a rip attack Speeder Bike from the POTF2 line.

Hasbor's marketing campaign just kind of came to a screeching halt for both TF and Joes for some reason. I dont get it as they market the hell out of everything else they have.

Aparently they fired their marketing department. TF and GIJOE are their core brands. Their own unique property. Not a license they have to buy. But they seem to throw everything behind their licensed toys. Star wars and Marvel.

Off topic: I'm pretty sure Hasbro has been counting on the summer movies to carry Joe and TF. If there's anything we've learned in the last couple years it's that you can't count on a movie alone to sell toys.
On topic: I'm going to have to get a good look at the figures and vehicle (not to mention the price-tag) before i decide to get these zip-line vehicles.
