IDW's G.I.Joe. A year in review

We must not be reading the same comics. The underlying "shadow organization" concept for Cobra means that they effectively threaten everyone, all the time. I find that creepy on a level that easily beats out a flamboyant army that would take a giant snake-shaped airship and attack the Statue of Liberty.

OK, but based on what we have seen G.I.Joe is equally shadowy. And they are working on scary technology as well.

G.I.Joe could be just as bad a threat...from what we have seen, they could just be a rival terrorist group. So far, the G.I.Joe team has taken not one single positive action on behalf of anyone but themselves.

The only enemies they have fought have been robots....and their fellow Joes!

They are actively trying to STOP those few Joes who are even attempting some sort of conflict.

I don't want cartoony airships...I just want protagonists who actually DO SOMETHING.
That is the definition of "protagonist".

Really....look at these 12 issues. How would the events have been different if in issue #1 everyone at The Pit was fired and sent home.

Destro's robots would not have been discovered, and thus would not have hurt anyone.

Stalker's team would not have slowed down Snake Eyes, and he mght have caught that arms dealer straight away.

Destro's South American castle would have gone undisturbed. I think it is unlikely that Destro' guard bots would go after hikers and stuff...so that would have likely never hurt anyone either.

Snake Eyes and Mainframe would have been rescued by Fema.

That's about it.

Now, look at how the story would be different if Cobra did not exist.

It would be no different, except that Scarlett, Snake Eyes, and Mainframe would be wrong.
