My X-Mas deal

My wonderful, wonderful, girlfriend wants to get me Joe stuff for X-mas.

But, that stuff can be hard to find, and she does not know exactly what figures I need and want.
Plus, we can both so rarely get to the stores, that she would be putting all those eggs in one last chance basket if I did a buying freeze.

The fear is that if I stopped buying joes for a month, she would then have to count on making up for that month all at once on one secret shopping trip. Which is unlikely at best.

So, this is what we worked out. She is going to get me other stuff. Collecting and customizing resources. And I am going to put all my new Joes into santa-storage in the living room closet. They are just sitting there...stacking up....unopened! And, even though I know what they are....and I bought them.... I will get to open them all on X-mas.

And, really....opening Joes on X-mas is THE true joy of life. it really is. The logical part of my brain that tells me that i bought all of these toys will be easily drowned out by the narcotic euphoria of busting open a whole pile of new toys.

Also, i have the package that Wild Weasel sent me that i do not 100% recall what is inside it. that will be a fun one!

You guys have any Joe-related holiday plans?

My GF was going to Target one day and she asked me if there was a joe item or two I wanted so i told her to look for the Serpent Armors. I dunno if she found anything, but thats about it for me.

I am also doing a gift swap with my local Joe buddy, we will hook each other up with something we want/need. That on top of 2 online secret santas and i should have a very GIJOEy Xmas.

My wife is slow to the draw when it comes to buying stuff. She doesnt understand that if you dont buy it right away, you may never see it again. So taking that into account, i purchased everything i wanted, then gave me money for it and wrapped it up. she doesnt understand that even though i know what it is, im still excited to be able to open it on christmas.

My girlfriend constantly calls me from stores to ask if there is anything i need/want from the joe aisles for christmas. I finally ended up typing her a list so she takes it with her when she heads into the stores.

My GF and I were at K-mart shopping for some family x-mas gifts. I have a fair amount of the figures they have in stock, but not quite all. I also had no money left in my account due to... other stuff. So, she picked up one of the DVD sets and asked if I could use the figures in it, to which I replied "of course". That set I only have one of the figures in because the rest had been sacrificed to the customs gods. So she said she could swing getting it for me. I told here, I'll be so surprised. Our holiday budget is very tight, so this is a very big deal, even if it was on clearance.

my brother got me a pit playset as a combo birthday x-mas gift but my sister in law is making me wait till x-mas to get it which is cool u cant beat new joe stuff on x-mas

Things are bad this year so I told the Gf to not worry about getting me anything, its not that important to me. But damn joes for christmas rocks guys!

I so agree about opening toys Christmas morning!! No matter how old I get that'll NEVER get old!!

Also, a buddy (& hardcore collector) has been working on collecting the motherload of winter figs & gear for a big dio he's gonna build when his house is done being built. I've done some custom artic conversions for him for it so for his birthday I got him one of the few things he hadn't gotten for it yet, the new Cobra Gunship w/ Firefly. As lame as I thought it'd be by lookin at the box I was pleasantly supprised when I opened it, it's pretty cool! But FF needs some gear (would it have killed Hasbro to give him a Baretta for the holster on his leg? If he get's shot down he'll be a sitting duck! lol). Anyway, I painted it to go with his dio before givin it to him tonight for his birthday & he made the same reaction my 6 year old son made when he finally got his Ultimate Bumblebee!!

My point Josh, I've always said you're only as old as the women ya date (I plan to be like Hugh Hephner & be 20 forever!). I guess I should add "or the toys you play with" to that statement!

Hope everyone has a bitchen X-Mas & has a blast makin space for their suddenly expanded toy collections!!!

Last yeay my GF wasn't sure what toys to get me, so she got me the BMF. It wasn't something I would have ever bought for myself because I only buy 10-20 sw figures a year I almost never buy sw vehicles. However she always saw me looking at it when we were at stores because it is such a fascinating 33/4 toy. It took me an entire day to put it together figure out how everything worked, and pla... I mean display in many different action sequences. It brought me back to Christmas as a kid.

My wife used to do that as well. Even though i provided a list for her she would still call me nonetheless from the store. I think she got a kick out of it.
