The Terror Drome’s 3rd Anniversary!

by | September 25th, 2011

terror-drome-3rd-anniversary-logo-350x275Today marks the 3rd Anniversary of The Terror Drome. We have been online (publicly, not in a development stage) for 3 years today. It has been a fun ride for sure. I’ve learned many things in those 3 years, I’ve met many people that I would call friends and most of all it has been great hanging out with people with like-minded interests for sure.

So I thank every one of you for joining us here, and especially those that continue to visit and hang out. It has been unfortunate that over the years some have left, but I guess we grow beyond the “plastic crack” some times and find the need to move on. To the others, well sorry it ended that way.

I think we still have some exciting times ahead for us Joe fans, and I for one am looking forward to being a part of it all.

Welcome to The Terror Drome!

Cooooobraaa!

Jason

“Flag Points” Podcast Episode #7 Now Available

by | September 22nd, 2011

community-showcaseThe “Flag Points” duo of Don and Dave bring us another podcast episode. Discussing collecting G.I. Joe, sharing memories and occasionally the latest G.I. Joe news to hit the community. On this week’s episode Don and Dave talk about the ultimate G.I. Joe toy, the Flagg! The guys talk about one of the most desired Joe playsets to ever be made. So head on over to their PodBean page or search in iTunes for “Flag Points” to get the latest episode or their previous ones.

The USS Flagg was an incredible toy, wasn’t it? Don and Dave make an attempt to talk about one of their favorite toys of all time – the 1985 G.I. Joe USS Flagg aircraft carrier in Flag Points Episode 7. Fully aware that we could not cover every detail, we did our best to share what we know and to pay tribute to a ridiculously-large boy’s toy playset from the only decade that would tolerate and support such a thing — the glorious 1980’s. Have fun, email us with corrections, but most of all, enjoy our ranting.

RUMOR: G.I. Joe: Retaliation — Marlon Wayans Reveals Ripcord’s Fate?

by | September 22nd, 2011

gijoe-2-temp-placeholder-logoAdd this to the rumor column, but Joe Community and Terror Drome member Roadblock Recall mentions he heard on a local radio station today an interview with Shawn and Marlon Wayans. As you recall, Marlon Wayans played Ripcord in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. And also as we know, he was not brought back to reprise that role.

Review of G.I. Joe (Season 2) #5 from IDW Publishing

by | September 22nd, 2011

reviews-coffeeNot quite sure what is going on with IDW‘s shipping right now, but there is something screwy going on. Last week Cobra #5 was to ship according to IDW, but it was not on comic distributor Diamond‘s list. But it did arrive at some shops. And this week Cobra #5 is on Diamond‘s list and is showing up at the rest of the stores now. Well this week the same thing is going on with G.I. Joe #5, but it appears that it might not be shipping at all (haven’t heard of anyone getting it yet). Again, this was on IDW‘s list for this week. So you will either be able to get this book this week or next, more likely the latter. We do have review of G.I. Joe #5 for you, and since this might not be available for many, it is more like an advance review now. There will be spoilers, so read at your own discretion

gijoe-5-cover-b-by-will-rosado

The stated intention of the Cobra Commander contest — to deliver as much pain as possible to G.I. Joe — is certainly playing itself out as the Cobra Council envisioned.

Preview of G.I. Joe (Season 2) #5 from IDW Publishing

by | September 20th, 2011

idw-publishing-logo-newAvailable this week from IDW Publishing is G.I. Joe #5. G.I. Joe “Season 2″ continues on with the Cobra Civil War in full effect and things are really starting to heat up. The Joes are attacked once again by Cobra in a secret facility that not even every Joe knows about. Baroness leads a “small army” of Cobra Vipers into the secret facility to eliminate the Joes, but the Joes have a surprise for her and her team, the Davy Crocket (you’ll just have to read it to fully understand that). This issue is written by Chuck Dixon with art by Javier Saltares and Ron Adrian. Covers A & B are done by Tom Feister and Saltares. There is also a retailer incentive cover by Danny Cruz. Look for this issue at your local comic shop on Wednesday, September 21st. You can check out a preview of G.I. Joe #5 here in the forums. We also have available previews of Star Trek #1 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #2.

NOTE: This could be another “Cobra #5 situation.” I say this because this book is not on Diamond’s list for this week (like Cobra #5 wasn’t last week), but it is on IDW’s. And of note, Cobra #5 is on Diamond’s list this week, where it wasn’t last week. So some stores may or may not get G.I. Joe #5 this week.

gijoe-5-cover-a-by-tom-feister gijoe-5-cover-b-by-will-rosado

G.I. Joe Vol. 2 #5:
The Joes go underground—literally! They’ve been on the defensive for the last four months, and now they’ve got a plan to get out of the line of fire, regroup, and start painting Cobra with red, white, and blue butt-kicking! That is, if Cobra doesn’t find them and kill them first… Zartan and Baroness are scheming, and that can’t be good for the Joes!

* Variants:
- Unique “Days of Future Past” tribute cover by Danny Cruz
- G.I. JOE #5 “Days of Future Past” tribute variant, convention sketch version!

Bullet points:
• A brand new story arc of Cobra Civil War!
• The fall of a major character starts here!
