Hasbro Finally Reveals Their 2013 SDCC G.I. Joe/Transformers Exclusive!

by | June 5th, 2013

sdcc-logoHasbro finally showed off their 2013 San Diego Comic-Con Exclusives today and they wouldn’t be complete without a G.I. Joe/Transformers exclusive. This is Habro’s third and final installment of the special series of annual mash-ups, and while the two previous exclusives focused on Decepticons — a Skystriker jet with a Starscream paint job, and a Shockwave deco on a G.I. Joe Retaliation movie H.I.S.S. Tank — the 2013 edition focuses on the good guys. The set includes a Skystriker in the colors of the Autobot Jetfire and a G.I. Joe V.A.M.P. vehicle retooled to reflect Hound, a cult favorite whose original automobile form was that of an Army Jeep. The set also comes with the Cobra femme fatale Baroness with the Decepticon character Ravage, G.I. Joe ninja Snake Eyes with an Autobot logo on his outfit, the Autobot Blaster in his boom-box form and his tapes, and a robotic samurai warrior with a skeleton head in the colors of the Decepticon Bludgeon. This set will cost $99.99 (which seems like a steal!). So it looks like you better start saving your pennies. The San Diego Comic-Con is just right around the corner. (Source: USA Today)

by | April 9th, 2013

idw-publishing-logo-newThis week from IDW Publishing comes another of their G.I. Joe relaunch books. But this book is more of a re-naming than anything, Mike Cost and Antonio Fuso return in G.I. Joe: The Cobra Files #1. Formerly titled COBRA, G.I. Joe: The Cobra Files continues some of the best G.I. Joe stories to-date. In The Cobra Files #1, Flint and his team are still on the hunt for Cobra, meanwhile Tomax is playing a game, and this is one game that could end badly for the Joes. Look for this title on sale tomorrow, Wednesday, April 10th at your local comic shop; or available in digital format through the comiXology.com website or app. In the meantime, you can check out an advance preview of G.I. JoeCon 2013: Concept Case, Part 2 — Hasbro Still Hates You.

by | April 6th, 2013

joecon-2013-logo-latest010913Well apparently Hasbro saying, “we aren’t showing you anything new at JoeCon,” only meant any new retail figures. Because this afternoon, Hasbro decided to tell you they still don’t like you, and once again decided to tease you some more with Concept Case, Part 2. These are more figures (along with a couple from last year’s Concept Vault) that are not planned for release any time soon. These are concepts only! So enjoy the nice tease. I want to say this as a note, I’m mostly joking about Hasbro hating you. Just quite the “gut punch” to see these things knowing they are not coming out any time soon (or at all). So I’m just having fun with it. (Images courtesy of Terror Drome member wolfyhound)

Paramount Gives a Third GI Joe Movie A Go After Strong Opening Weekend

by | March 31st, 2013

gijoe-2-retaliation-logo-temp121011smWell in a definite surprise move, Andrew Stewart of Variety is reporting that Paramount has greenlit a third G.I. Joe movie. Reports are coming in that G.I. Joe: Retaliation has done about $132 Million (estimated) Worldwide this opening weekend. And apparently Paramount thinks this is enough to call for a sequel. With some competition ahead for Retaliation, I still have to wonder what kind of “legs” the movie has in long-term box office numbers. Still some great news to hear a third movie will be made. Maybe this time around Cobra Commander will finally be the main antagonist, as opposed to Destro and Zartan from the first two. I supposed this should also be taken as a rumor until official word from Paramount is released. (Source: Twitter)
