Six months ago to the day, we were introduced to the next “evolution” of G.I. Joe at the 2009 Joe Con. Hasbro during the 3-day event, debuted The Pursuit of Cobra (a sub-line theme to the movie line The Rise of Cobra) to G.I. Joe fans and fans were excited about what they saw.
As time went by fans were wondering when we would start to hear more information about The Pursuit of Cobra line. We began to see some of the first wave show up on eBay from overseas sellers. Most of Wave 1, with the exception of “Arctic Threat” Duke & Destro had shown up for sale by this time. Then during the 5th round of Hasbro Q&A’s, Hasbro let on that the line was delayed and would be delayed until Fall 2010. A 9-month delay. Fans understandably started to worry about the future of their beloved G.I. Joe brand.
Hasbro has sent out official images for the 2010 Pursuit of Cobra line-up showing the first 2 waves of figures and vehicles. Some of the images shown are the single carded “City Strike” Alley-Viper & “Desert Battle” Dusty figures, along with “City Strike” Beachhead, “Jungle Assault” Jungle-Viper and “Arctic Threat” Snake Eyes. A lot of the 2010 line-up has been retooled from what we saw at last year’s Joe Con. Most notably is the absence of the Rise of Cobra actor likeness. They also sent out images showing the Resolute 7-Packs coming later this year. Both lines were debuted today at Toy Fair 2010 in New York City. You can view the official images after the jump.
Gyre-Viper of HissTank and eBay seller toyssir8982009 have once again come through with some new info on upcoming 2010 G.I. Joe vehicles. They have provided images of a retooled Ghost Hawk and Lift Ticket repaint, what almost looks like a “Dreadnock Cycle” with driver and what appears to be Wave 2 of Rip-Attack vehicles. The Rip-Attack vehicles show, an air vehicle of some kind with what looks like Snake Eyes with Matt Trakker’s helmet and a snow mobile with a figure that was believed to be just a horrible kitbash using the Firefly body with Elite-Viper head (E_only eBay auction). No other information is available at this time about these, but if these do end up released, 2010 is really starting to look interesting in the “vehicle department”.

The infamous toyssir898 has posted some interesting images of what could possibly be some upcoming vehicles for the Pursuit of Cobra line. Featured in the images are a Joe and Cobra version of a retooled Sigma 6 Iron Hammer, and 2 version of the classic A.W.E. Striker. The Iron Hammercorresponds with the reveal that Hasbro gave us at the 2009 JoeCon. Included with the vehicles is what looks to be Duke(?) and a new version of WildWeasel(?).
Also posted are some prototypes of the A.W.E. Striker that are pretty interesting. If you notice, printed on the hood is “InGen” which was the name of John Hammond’s corporation in Jurassic Park, not to mention the “JP” logo printed on the side. The included figures in the images are also a mystery. They appear to be kit bashed version of the Toys “R” Us exclusive Fire Fly figure. As of right now, none of these images are “official” or “confirmed” by Hasbro, in addition to there being no official information on possible release dates.
Thanks to TaoBao seller ilovesw, we now have a look at in package images of previously seen G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra prototype “alpha class” vehicles. We now see packaging for the Mantis Attack Craft with Aqua-Viper Officer, Sky Sweeper Jet with Air Raid and the Snarler Cycle with Wayne “Beachhead” Sneeden and Rollbar.
eBay seller sicdunbine has posted a few new auctions featuringAlpha Class vehicles from the Rise of Cobra toy line. The Mole Pod, Snake Trax ATV, Rockslide ATAV, and Armored Panther are all up for grabs, and the auctions give us some nice images of the both the vehicles and the packaging. These vehicles are to be part of the Wave 1 Alpha Vehicle assortment with a $15.99 retail price, and are speculated to be available this July.
Thanks to madmac41 of JoeBattleLines we now have some great “In Hand” images of Outback from the upcoming Wave 5 of 25th Anniversary Vehicles. This wave of vehicles was unexpectedly canceled last year — leaving all pre-orders canceled and everyone wonder what was going on. Out of nowhere, they made a return to the online retailer sites earlier this year, and are set to be released sometime next month.
